Rule the Night
04:54
|
|||
Here, here they come
Hear their ugly cries fill the air
Masters of their trade
The harbingers of fear and lies
And if they burn heaven down
Then we, we will give them hell
Our fire will rule the night
When the night has come and the land is dark
We won't turn our backs on you, turn our backs on you
So stand, stand up tall and proud
Against the beasts who say they bring salvation
Fight for the world, fragile and battered,
For all is not lost yet
Our will will rule the night
When the night has come and the land is dark
We won't turn our backs on you, turn our backs on you
When the night has come and the land is dark
You, you will lead the charge and become our spark
And we won't turn our backs on you, turn our backs on you

Steady as a Rock
04:28
|
|||
I’ve been traveling for so long
To end up where I started
Across the bridges winding up and down
From steel mills to the hills of trees
When I started out, things were going fine
I’m starting to feel, like I am tiring out
I’ve seen architecture on display
A city housed in one building
Shown to me by the ones who’ve been this way before
They know I’ve got to keep it up
Oh, before it all comes down
Oh, got to be steady as a rock
So I’m moving again, off to see the sights
I hope that my mind can keep it up
Oh, before it all comes down
Oh, got to be steady as a rock
I’ve seen snow that buries a whole town
(A blizzard flurrying before my very eyes)
The cars frozen as they drove
So I wonder how much longer now
(It’s getting hard to keep holding my eyes open)
Before I’ll close these tired eyes
When I started out, things were going fine
I’m starting to feel, like I am tiring out
So I’ve got to be steady as a rock
So I’ve got to be steady as a rock
I’ve been traveling for so long
To end up where I started

Lady Picasso
04:21
|
|||
Lady Picasso’s mind is as god intends
She won’t tarnish the design with all her meds
For a good, sound mind she says that she must keep
Detoxified by going five days without sleep
Lady Picasso dances by the TV
Rearranges pixels sees things we don’t see
Her imagination’s power sometimes lets her hear
Her ancestors talking when the signal’s clear
Lady Picasso stood in the street
Watching for cars to come knock her off her feet
Lady Picasso thinks the end times have come
She thinks that the world has gone mad and then some
Says “look outside and you’ll see we’re all deranged
Yet why do you look at me and find me so strange?”

Not Done Yet
05:11
|
|||
Your heart pumping louder, than you ever thought it could go
Your temples are throbbing harder and harder
Your vision is blurring, the lights get brighter and brighter
You can’t breathe, trying to claw your way out
Out of this place where all you can feel is the panic
The feeling of the walls closing on in
Can’t run, can’t move, cannot escape from your senses
They’re screaming telling you it’s time to go
Get ready now for what feels like the end
See if you can make it through
(Just hold your head up
Take a deep breath
Now find your focus
And push ahead
There’s no escaping
This rising tide
But you can make it
Time to pull through)
Just when you thought it was all under control
You feel your pulse quicken, the sweat is coming in
Choking on your breath, everything seems so much bigger
You can’t win; you’re hiding, hoping there will be an escape
"You cannot run but you do not have to
Time to dig in and see what you’re made of
Ready your stance and take up your weapon
Time to aim your bow and arrow
And fire!"
Not done yet (I’m still in this fight)
Not broken (I’ll take what you give)
I’ll be here (I’m stronger than that)
Till the end (And face all my fears)
You think you can beat this? You actually think you can win?
They’re laughing, they’re taunting, they all know you’re a…
Failure, impostor, you’re way out of your depth
You shouldn’t have come, just crawl back to bed
Learn how to gracefully accept defeat
Shut up and stick to your place
"You do not need them
You never did
It may not feel so
But you’re not alone"
Oh really? You think that someone is going to have your back
You fool, no one ever cared about you
So give up, it’s hopeless, everything you do is futile
There’s no point in trying to hide your disgrace
"Focusing now with all of your energy
Time to pick up and aim your bow
So fire!"
Not done yet (I’m still in this fight)
Not broken (I’ll take what you give)
I’ll be here (I’m stronger than that)
Till the end (And face all my fears)
All right! You’ve got this, just keeping your focus on your task
This challenge is nothing that you cannot handle
Your heart pumping louder than you ever thought it could go
It’s telling you that you have what it takes to go on
"Focusing now with all of your energy
Time to pick up and aim your bow
So fire!"
Not done yet (I’m still in this fight)
Not broken (I’ll take what you give)
I’ll be here (I’m stronger than that)
Till the end (And face all my fears)

Mme. Sing
06:04
|

Oh, Madam Sing
I have long sought your song
Your voice, let it ring
So pure and so strong
Oh, Madam Sing
For I long to have heard
A sweet, simple thing
Warm and gentle words
And I know I’ll be free
For all I have known
And all I have seen
Melts away like the snow
Oh, Madam Sing
I have waited oh so long
Please just tell me one small thing
All this time I’ve not been wrong
Oh, Madam Sing
Let your voice now fill the air
And surround me in its glory
Won’t you please take me there
And I know I’ll be free
For my journey’s been so long
Here I will find peace
In the beauty of your song

The stage lights dawn upon me
Calling me to bask in their glow
"What would you give to be
Subject to those adoring eyes?"
I have dreamed of a life complete
Surrounded by the throngs who will understand me
"The power is there for you to claim
All it takes is for you to sign your name"
I sold my soul to rock and roll
For the chance to be the one to win the crowd
I sold my soul to rock and roll
For the chance to be free
But all I have done is placed myself in chains
"Surely the shackles are a price that you gladly have paid
Escape from obscurity, wealth, fame, all know your name
See the contract signed and sealed!"
The thrill of the stage, a desire I could not contain
Now my life is dictated by the rules of your games
Let me go (no can do), let me out (how could I)
Let me/(you) go
"The contract is writ; your life belongs to me now!"
Perhaps I could run away, make a break for it
"You bask in the light; you cannot escape from my sight"
I’ve got the will to survive; I can make it
"Hide if you want but you cannot escape your desires"
I’ll start over now, time to take a bow
(I sold my soul to rock and roll
For the chance to win the crowd)
No more compromise
(I sold my soul to rock and roll
For the chance to be free)
I will earn my place!
"So you’ve gone on your own
Forsaking the shortcut to regain your soul"
The stage lights are calling me still
One day I hope to see them again
I sold my soul to rock and roll
I sold my soul to rock and roll
I sold my soul to rock and roll
I sold my soul to rock and roll

Endless War
04:53
|
|||
I struggle to hold on
Clamber to carry on
There’s no sense to be had
Feels just like going mad
I struggle to hold on
Clamber to carry on
There’s no sense to be had
Feels just like going mad
Survival comes at a cost
There’s no guarantee
Feels like this endless war
Accepting you’re gone
The time has come to say our goodbyes
Feeling the cold that remains
So my mind turns into stone
Weathering this coming storm
Survival comes at a cost
There’s no guarantee
Feels like this endless war
Accepting you’re gone
Another day, another struggle
(Harden my soul to survive)
Between the sadness and the pain
(Must stand my ground)
Trying to keep your image intact
(Feels like this endless war)
Wanting a release from this ache
(Accepting you’re gone)
Holding on the dearest of moments
Keeping them safe down inside
Moving on feels like betrayal
Yet it is what must be done
Survival comes at a cost
There’s no guarantee
Feels like this endless war
Accepting you’re gone
Another day, another struggle
(Harden my soul to survive)
Between the sadness and the pain
(Must stand my ground)
Trying to keep your image intact
(Feels like this endless war)
Wanting a release from this ache
(Accepting you’re gone)
Another day, another struggle
(Harden my soul to survive)
Between the sadness and the pain
(Must stand my ground)
Trying to keep your image intact
(Feels like this endless war)
Wanting a release from this ache
(Accepting you’re gone)

Funk
04:06
|
|||
Sometimes when I look too close
I notice things that hurt to see
And sometimes when I think too hard
I’m scared by the world around me
But when I’m slow and low I know it’s time I gotta go
Shake off that old junk
Hand me my guitar and I’ll
Get out of my funk
Sometimes when I sleep too much
The nightmares start to feel so real
And then when I wake up
The real thing feels like the same deal
But when I’m stuck in muck and I have run out of my luck
Know that I ain’t sunk
Hand me my guitar and I’ll
Get out of my funk
So when I’m slow and low I know it’s time I gotta go
Cause this ain’t no slam dunk
Yeah if I’m stuck I’ll buck up I don’t care how much it sucks
Man I ain’t no punk
Hand me my guitar and I’ll
Get out of my funk

A Soft Rain
13:20
|
|||
Sister went to the store
Brother fell at home
Disconnected oxygen
Brother was alone
Twenty minutes later
She found him on the floor
And when the medics came in
They could do nothing more
The oldest one was he
Now the oldest is me
I was working
On a car in my shop
The back phone kept on ringing
I had to make it stop
I could not hear Sister’s words
But listened as she cried
Outside I heard a soft rain fall
The day that Brother died
When I was a child
In a country far away
Brother’s throat began to close
It was the flu they say
Brother was so sick and thin
The other kids would tease
Sister and I beat them up
Brought them to their knees
Those were in days gone by
Today I say goodbye...
With two thousand dollars
We came to the States
They shoved a tube right through his neck
It seemed an ugly fate
But brother never rued the day
He never said why me
He gave and slaved his days away
To help others in need
Here in America
Farmers we became
The work was hard and in my head
Brother was to blame
Dreams that I had back at home
Were now so far away
And as my resentment grew
I knew I could not stay
My heart had grown so cold
And now I’ve grown so old
I never was the
Man I should have been
I was not there for Brother
My flesh my blood my kin
Upon my wife’s shoulder
Last night I softly cried
Still outside a soft rain fell
The day that Brother died
